Quality Reproduction Beads
Chevrons NC 234 and NC 235 Skilfully made large new Chevrons .. most probably both of Chinese production.
nc 235 is obviously newly made but nc 234 could easily be misidentified as antique. - Barrels AMR 201-01 to AMR 201-10 Very
well made Indonesian reproductions of ancient Roman and Islamic Period bead patterns which are found in extremely limited numbers in West Africa. As of March
2007, only four dealers in two of the 6 countries visited had a small number of these types on offer at high prices. The total number of beads seen was around 60. - Large Ovals
AMR 201-11 to AMR 201-13 Very attractive beads of uncertain origin, but not of the same manufacture as the Indonesian beads above. The Millefiore canes used appear to be Venetian and Indian, giving a
range of possibilities that they could have been made in India, China or Italy. Even more rare to find in West Africa than the beads above .. after their first appearance in 2005, whilst travelling and bead hunting through
eight West African countries, we have only seen around 30 for sale, with high prices always demanded. As yet, we can find no accurate information about them. If you have the knowledge to clear up this mystery, please
let us know .. any information will be gladly received. - All the
beautiful glass beads below have smooth but not high gloss finishes, clean perforations and exact patterns .. likely to become collectors items of the future.
