Tuareg Crosses
-Originally worn by men, they were passed down from father to son when the boy reached puberty. The father would say: "My son, I give you the four corners of the world because one cannot know where one will die." Nowadays normally worn as neck adornments by women .. their many different designs are named after the oasis towns between Agadez in Niger and the Hoggar Mountains to the North.
These nickel silver examples were recently made by Tuaregs living in Niger and are strung on 17 in / 43 cm strands of 3 mm black glass spheres with hook fasteners.
