Czech - Bohemian Moulded - Ground and Faceted glass beads
Early Czech bead-makers, having learnt glass bead-making skills from the Venetians, utilised their own stone-grinding expertise to decorate moulded beads by adding lines or facets, by hand, with a grinding wheel. By the 1860's they were outselling the Venetians with their own particular styles, specifically aimed at the markets of Africa, the Middle East and India.
