Ebony "Rastafarian" Necklace In some parts of the Casamance - Southern
Senegal - many of the local lads follow the vibrant but gentle Rastafarian culture. Many make, wear and occasionally sell such colour schemed necklaces, whilst living laid-back lifestyles, drumming, cultivating their
dreadlocks, listening to Bob Marley and meditating .. in clouds of tobacco smoke !! - The colours are symbolic and are also the colours of the Ethiopian flag, Ex Emperor Haile Selassie being their spiritual leader. The red stands for the blood that was shed
during many years of slavery. The gold stands for the gold that was stolen throughout the many long years. And finally the green stands for the earth and hope, the hope of a better life for the future.
